From Afar is the newsletter complement to Spyglass, the publication run by M.G. Siegler, a long-time technology investor and writer. Launched in 2024, Spyglass focuses on technology with dashes of entertainment and other topics — sometimes relevant, sometimes not — here and there. From Afar is meant as a less formal, shorter, and even more conversational sidekick of sorts.

Perhaps the best way to frame From Afar is as a real-time notebook for what M.G. is reading and thinking about from a vantage point that's outside of Silicon Valley after so many years on the inside.
